Mega Drive 1 Stereo Scart Lead (Continued)
We'll start by soldering the Left and Right audio wires, use the table above to make sure you're soldering the left wire from the audio to the correct wire for left audio going to the Scart plug, insulate them when done. Twist the ground wire so it's with the shielding wire from the main cable.

Now simply follow the table above, and solder the correct coloured wire from the main cable to the correct pin. It's probably best to start with the Blue signal first (pin 8), as it's right in the middle and would be difficult if left until last. Simply press the soldering iron onto the pin, near the hole, when the solder inside melts, push the wire into place. Work around soldering the rest of the wires. Notice you won't be soldering any wires to pins 1 or 7.

Re-assemble the plug, start by wrapping the the ground/shielding wire around the cable grip, then squeeze the cable grip as best as possible. Wrap some electrical insulation tape around and then put the other half of the metal plug in place, before finally sliding the plastic part of the plug into place.

Plug the 8 pin din plug into the rear of the console, and the audio plug into the headphone socket on the front. You'll need to turn the volume up all the way.
mmmonkey first found the pin layout for a Mono Mega Drive cable over on Mike Gordon's website, so credit must go to him, mmmonkey just added an extra cable to get Stereo sound.
Summary of Components needed
1 x 8 Pin Din plug
1 x Scart plug
3 x 75 ohm Resistors
1 x 100 ohm Resistor
2m of (at least) 8 core cable
some very short lengths of wire (can be pulled out of the above cable)
1 x 3.5mm Audio plug
about 40cm of 2 core audio cableNotes - there are 2 common types of 8 pin din plugs/sockets - U and C, this refers to the pattern of pins (8 pin din C pins are in a more curved pattern than 8 pin din U). The Mega Drive uses 8 pin din C
