Updates and News
September 2008 Not a mod yet, waiting for another PC Engine to be delivered. But I did get some new Caps4stix, grey to match the dpad.
August 2008 Just updated the USA SNES Power Supply mod to show how to make a converter cable using Maplin parts. Robert has taken the time to correct some mistakes in the DC VGA mod, please do not attempt this mod until I get a chance to update the page with the correct board layout (and probably take some new photos)
Added some notes on the Saturn Ultimate Mod which explains the signals that the PIC is either expecting to receive or is outputting.
Finally, I've fitted a MultiBIOS, fitted it and had an idea about using just one switch to select the region.
Took some quick photos on removing the cart tabs from a USA SNES, as well as adding info on how to power it from a Sega Megadrive 1 PSU
Had to do the RGB Bypass on my Neo Geo AES, actually - forget that, see this page for more info
Finally had a chance to fit a Universe Bios to my Neo Geo (NeoGeo/Neo-Geo?!?! I dunno)
Had to fix my Neo joystick, details here on opening the connector without damaging it.
Added info on modding NTSC Super Mario RPG Cart to play on PAL SNES. Added a diagram on modding the one chip SNES.
Found a great website for info on Components - DatasheetArchive, will also find you equivalent hardware for stuff that's hard to find (like the N64 Amp BF494 transistors)
Added a new guide for putting a Power LED into the Neo-Geo AES, and info on RGB Scart leads for the Neo-Geo
Adapted Sebs brilliant Ultimate Saturn mod for the Megadrive
Bough myself a Willem programmer and some blank chips, I can now program MegaCD Multibios and NeoGeo Universe Bios (free version only) to test out fitting them.
July 2008 I'm obsessed with Saturn mods at the moment, I plan on getting another modchip to modify to fit in a Model 1 20pin Saturn. Info and diagrams for the Ultimate Sega Saturn Switchless Mod
Dreamcast Internal VGA mod written up at last.
XBOX 360 D-Pad Improvement, nice and simple if you can get into the PAD ;-)
New page detailing mods I'd like to do.
Small update on the Sega Saturn 50/60Hz mod.
Mega CD/Sega CD Multibios Author releases download. I've just bought myself a MD, IF I end up getting a MegaCD then I will do this mod :)
June 2008 Updated the Sega Saturn Region Guide to show some different motherboards and how to solder them. Dreamcast Mod Chip page updated to show a different chip (thanks AndyB)
A couple more Dreamcast fixes that I haven't tried yet (thanks again AndyB!!)
April 2008 After selling all my retro consoles off in a moment of madness, I ended up buying another Dreamcast. So here's a region changing mod for it. Coming soon will be an internal VGA mod for it. A friend gave me some webspace and traffic to host downloads on - cheers James :)
How I change the LEDs on an XBOX 360 RF Module.
This is what I had to do to make my Wii quiet again.
Small update to the Caps4Stix page, as they now do Wii Nunchuk caps.
March 2008 My XBOX 360 drive tray refuses to open most of the time, here's what fixed it for me. Not a new modification, but more a review of a product I stumbled across on eBay the other day. Have a look.
Nov 2007 mmmonkey hasn't got many of the consoles featured on this site anymore, and has probably missed a few emails due to large amounts of spam from publishing an email address on here :( Anyway, a small update for the PlayStation3 pad
And then the PlayStation3 pad mod and the whole site were taken down due to many other sites hotlinking to my photo's. I'm just investigating stopping hotlinking then will put the PS3 mod back up. Within a couple of days of the PS3 mod going up, hotlinkers made me go over my monthly transfer limit by 4GB! Luckily my hosting company helped me instead of penalised me (thanks Purplecloud!)
Nov 2005 It's been a while since any updates, I have yet to get my hands on any new hardware to modify. Neo Geo, PC Engine mods would be a great addition to the site and will hopefully happen one day. Traffic generated by the site has grown and grown, I've since purchased some additional bandwidth and will eventually move downloads to a new server.
There was a couple of small updates this month, added an image to the N64 RGB guide which clearly shows what to look for to see if your console is RGB mod friendly (thanks ConsoleFun). Also added info the end of Megadrive 1 switches guide showing what to do if your console has a capacitor on JP1 (thanks Santiago)
April 2005 Added a PDF download of the Sega Saturn 50/60Hz Switch guide. More Saturn PDF guides to follow. PDF download of Saturn Single Switch Region Mod guide now also available.
March 2005 Added a guide for making an RGB cable for the NTSC Game Cube. Started work on a Downloads section, with PDF guides. I've just looked through my old photo's for my guides, and can't find them! So PDF's with zoom-able images will not be appearing any time soon for previous guides, I will however always create one for future guides or the next time I perform a mod that needs a PDF.
I Have been given lots of info by Saurian at NTSC-UK about RGB'ing the PC Engine, fixing Cube sound problems etc. Need to collate this and put it on site.
Updated DC Mod Chip page with a few spelling corrections and added about using a VGA box to force full screen on import games.
Finally added information about the type of equipment used for performing these mods.
Sometime in 2004? I found myself taking more and more consoles apart to modify early in the year, having just bought a digital camera I decided to take my own photo's and make notes on performing mods that I had found on the web. Over the year gradually built up guides on modding various SNES and Mega drives, as well as other Nintendo and Sega consoles.
